Borussia D officially announced the transfer of the defender Manchester City Yana Couto.
Initially, it was reported that the 22-year-old defender would sign a long-term contract and his transfer would cost the Bumblebees 25 million euros. However, in the end, Borussia leased Couto for one season with the option to buy.
22-year-old Couto has been a City player since 2020. He was regularly loaned out – to Girona, Braga and back to Girona. In total, he spent three years with the Catalan team. In the 2023/24 season, he played 39 matches, scored two goals, and gave 10 assists.
Last fall, Couto made his debut for the Brazilian national team. To date, he has played four matches for the Selecao, scoring one assist. He was registered for the unsuccessful Copa America 2024, but did not play a single minute of the tournament.
Borussia D will begin the new season on August 17 with a match against Phoenix Lübeck in the German Cup.
