Today, the Miners started in the UPL with a crushing away victory over Vorskla
Head coach Shakhtar Marino Pusic commented on his team’s victory over Vorskla (5:0) in the opening round UPL.
“I am pleased with the way we started the season. Not only with the result, but also with the performance we showed. I am completely pleased with the way we behaved as a team on and off the pitch. As I told my players before the match, the team is not only the ones who start, but for me all of you are the main 11 players. And I am sure that we as a team fully proved that today.”
“I am completely satisfied with how we showed ourselves from the first minutes in terms of high pressing, our dedication and also how we played the whole match. Of course, there were a few things that could be improved. I always tell my players: there is always room for improvement. But the result and the level of play that my players showed today was fantastic.”
“We created some wonderful moments, which we were able to convert into goals just as wonderfully, so I can only reward my team with the highest compliments. As for the defensive mistakes, there were indeed some unpleasant moments, and that is part of the game. Football is a game of mistakes, and, unfortunately, ideal matches apparently do not exist, but it is important to be able to draw the right conclusions from these mistakes.”
“I am convinced that my team and I will do this already during the new training cycle. As for the players who ran after the match, this is important for us. If you noticed during the pre-season training camps and during the previous training camps, we always play two days in a row with the same team at the end, so that our players can fully demonstrate themselves on the football field in terms of physical preparation.”
“And these runs are also used to improve their physical condition and get them into optimal shape already at the beginning of the season, in the first rounds, because we are trying to develop and improve all of our players. This is done both to develop the physical condition of the players and so that we can see what condition they are in at one stage or another.”
In the second round of the UPL, Shakhtar will host Poliesie – the match is scheduled for August 11. The starting whistle will sound at 18:00.
