The UAF President expressed support for the blue-yellows’ coach Sergei Rebrov and his staff
The president Ukrainian Football Association Andriy Shevchenko outlined the immediate goals of the national team, expressed support for the coach of the blue-yellows Sergei Rebrov and his staff, and also spoke about the changes in the UAF.
“I would like to express full support from me personally and from the Association to the head coach of the national team and his staff. We held a meeting of the National Team Committee, discussed many issues: we know where we are going, where we are, what mistakes we made, what needs to be done to avoid them. The main thing is to react correctly.
A lot of good work has been done. I would like to define the following goals for the national team and for the Association. In September we start a new two-year cycle. It will be important for us. The main goal is to qualify for the World Cup. Either through the qualifying tournament or through the Nations League. It does not matter, the main thing is to get there.
Another piece of news. We will be reforming the scouting and analytics departments. We want to improve the quality and will work on it.”
Let us recall that the national team led by Rebrov failed to advance from the group at Euro 2024, finishing fourth in Group E. All four teams scored four points, but the blue-yellows closed the quartet table based on additional indicators.
In Group B1 of the 2024/2025 Nations League, Ukraine will play against the national teams of Albania, the Czech Republic and Georgia. The Ukrainian team will play all six matches in this quartet throughout the autumn of 2024.
