The President of the Ukrainian Football Association outlined the prospects for the country’s national team.
The main task of the Ukrainian national football team is to get to the next World Cup in 2026. This was announced by UAF President Andrey Shevchenko.
The functionary also, despite the disappointment at Euro 2024, highly appreciated the work of the coaching staff of the national team and reiterated his support for Sergei Rebrov.
“I want to reiterate my full support from the president and the entire association to the head coach and his staff.
Just a few minutes ago we finished a meeting of the committee of national teams, where we discussed many points. We know where we are going, where we are, what mistakes we have made, what needs to be done so that we can draw conclusions. The main thing is that it is experience. The main thing is to respond correctly to the mistakes that have occurred. But a lot of good work has been done.
I now want to define such goals for the national team and the association. We enter a new two-year cycle in September, which is very important for us. The main task is to qualify for the World Cup. Whether it is by the League of Nations or by choice is immaterial. The main thing for us is to get to the World Cup,” the UAF website quoted Shevchenko as saying.
