After just over a year of his farewell, Marcelo Gallardo is back to River Plate. The coach, who is considered one of the greatest commanders in the history of the Argentine club, returns to the red and white team after a complicated and lackluster stint at Al-Ittihad, from Saudi Arabia.
Soon after his announcement, Gallardo made his first statement in this second stint at River and preached focus. “We have to recover the response of a very good team, one that feels confident and starts to play important games like next Saturday against Huracán, which will be a good measure for the Libertadores. The main objective is the Copa Libertadores”said the ‘Muñeco’.
Between 2014 and 2022, Gallardo made history as River Plate’s coach, winning 14 titles in the period, including two more wins of the Libertadores. After all his great achievements, the coach won a statue in front of the Monumental of Nuñezover eight meters high.
