Dynamo congratulated Lucescu on his move to the position of head coach of the Romanian national team

The 79-year-old specialist signed a two-year contract

Dynamo congratulated Mircea Lucescu with the transition to the position of head coach Romanian national team.

“A huge level of responsibility is what always accompanied Lucescu during his work as a coach. And now, at 79, he is returning as a coach to the main team of his native country. This deserves respect! FC Dynamo wishes Mircea Lucescu success and victories with the Romanian national team!”, – says the message on the Dynamo club website.

Let us recall that the coach signed a two-year contract with the national team. His goal is to successfully perform in the League of Nations, as well as reach the final part of the 2026 World Cup.

Mircea Lucescu, 79, worked with the Romanian national team at the very beginning of his coaching career, from 1981 to 1986. Later, the specialist worked more often with clubs, and headed the Turkish national team.

In early May of this year, information emerged that Dynamo Kyiv had offered its ex-coach the position of general director of the club. At the same time, Lucescu himself stated that he would decide on his future at the end of May. Earlier, the specialist had rejected an offer from Besiktas.

Let us recall that Lucescu headed Shakhtar from 2004 to 2016. With the Miners, the Romanian won 22 trophies, including becoming the champion of Ukraine 8 times.

From the summer of 2020 to November 2023, Mircea worked as the head of Dynamo and in the first season under the leadership of the Romanian, the Kiev team became the champion of Ukraine, and also won the Cup and Super Cup of Ukraine.

The Romanian national team will play in Group 2 of Division C of the Nations League. Lucescu’s team will face Lithuania, Cyprus and Kosovo.
