Athletistic/ Football. Former CSKA coach Valery Gazzaev highlighted how goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev appeared in the team.
“I participated in the development of Akinfeev’s career. We had a difficult situation with goalkeepers, someone was out of action due to injury. And so I once went to watch a youth team tournament in Moscow. And in the capital’s national team, I liked one goalkeeper. I say to my assistants: “Who is this guy? Pretty good. He plays well with his feet.”
And they tell me that he is training in the CSKA system. “Well,” I say, “Let him come tomorrow to train at the Arkhangelskoye base.” It was Igor Akinfeev.
Before, there was the era of Yashin, then the era of Dasaev, and now we live in the era of Akinfeev,” SE Gazzaev quotes.
