Liverpool is considering acquiring a defensive midfielder Real Sociedad And Spain national team Martina Zubimendi.
The 25-year-old’s contract includes a release clause of €60 million, and the Reds are considering activating the clause.
Negotiations are expected on two levels – between the clubs and between the potential buyer and the player himself.
Zubimendi is a San Sebastian native who has spent his entire career at Real Sociedad. Having made his debut for the first team in 2019, Martin has played 188 matches for Tchouri-Urdín in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists.
As part of the Spanish national team, Zubimendi became European champion this summer. At Euro 2024 in Germany, he appeared on the field four times, including playing the entire second half in the final against England (2:1).
Real Sociedad finished sixth in La Liga in the 2023/24 season. Liverpool finished third in the Premier League, losing the title race to Manchester City and Arsenal. The Reds, who parted ways with the legendary Jurgen Klopp, are preparing for the upcoming season under the guidance of new coach Arne Slot.
