Sergi Roberto also thanked his home team, where he played from the age of 14 and where he spent his entire career.
“Barcelona fans! It’s time to thank you for the journey we walked together.
My story at Barça started when I was 14 years old. I fulfilled the dream of wearing a Barcelona shirt by going to La Massia, where I spent my best teenage years and internalized all the values of the club. I grew as a player and more importantly as a person, making lifelong friends.
The 11 years in the first team were full of special moments and impressions, from the debut to the captain’s armband and winning all possible titles. Sharing the dressing room with my idols and world-class coaches is a real privilege.
I walk with the pride that I gave all of myself for 18 years, putting the interests of the team above my own. I am proud to have captained the club of my life. Thanks to the club, all the staff and fans for making this 18 years the best journey possible. Finally, thanks to my family for always being there, because without you, none of this would be possible. Forward, Barça – forever,” Roberto said in a video message.
