Kolos suffers minimal away loss to Chornomorets
Head coach Kolosa Alexander Pozdeev commented on the defeat from Chernomorets (0:1) in the third round match UPL-2024/25.
“Congratulations to Chernomorets, and today we lacked density, character, and skill, of course. It is difficult to create moments, it is difficult to advance. I would not say that this was a losing match for us in terms of play. But it would be one thing if we had hit the goalposts and crossbars; and another thing when we have one and a half moments in a match. This is not enough to talk about any ambitions or victories.”
“We have injured footballers who are currently unable to take part in matches. But we are also counting on those guys who are healthy. And we need to squeeze 100 percent out of ourselves, no less.”
“I can’t assess how well Chornomorets played in defense. We have such a level of the championship today – it is very difficult to open up the teams’ defense, especially if the team sits lower. As a rule, our legionnaires do this. This is skill, this is mobility, this is an assessment of the situation. This is opening up in time and passing in time. This is a complex. You can put a hundred players on the attack, but if you don’t have time in terms of timing, you do everything at the wrong time – nothing will work out.”
The only goal of the match was scored in the 35th minute of the match. Kirill Popov made a great pass into the penalty area to Alexey Khoblenko, who twisted the Kolos defender and opened the net.
Kolos has two points and is in 12th place in the UPL. In the next match, Pozdeev’s team will host Obolon in the Ukrainian Cup on August 21.
