Salah sets new Premier League record with nine goals in first-round matches

The Egyptian surpassed the achievements of such legends as Lampard, Rooney and Shearer

Attack Liverpool Mohamed Salah updated the record English Premier League by the number of goals scored in the first rounds of the championship.

The goal scored today in the 65th minute against Ipswich was the 32-year-old’s ninth in his first Premier League appearance, taking him ahead of legends Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer.

Let us recall that Liverpool beat the league newcomer 2-0 away in the debut match of head coach Arne Sloth. Salah set the final score, and shortly before that Diogo Jota scored a goal.

Salah is in his eighth season at Liverpool, during which time he has been named the Reds’ Player of the Season four times, including for the 2023/24 campaign.

Liverpool will host Brentford in the second round of the Premier League on August 25.
