In the summer, the midfielder became the winner of Euro 2024 with the Spanish national team
Arsenal is in the final stages of negotiations regarding the transfer of the midfielder Real Sociedad Mikel Merino.
The clubs are reported to have almost agreed on the transfer amount, and are currently working on the structure and timing of payments.
Merino has spent the last six seasons with Real Sociedad, where he has been a key player. Last season, the 28-year-old midfielder played 45 matches in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.
In the summer, Merino and the Spanish national team became the winners of Euro 2024. He played all seven matches of the tournament, scoring one goal (in the quarter-final against Germany).
Arsenal have already signed one new player this summer, Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, for €40m+5m.
The Gunners officially opened the new season yesterday, with Arteta’s men beating Wolverhampton at home (2-0), scoring a goal in each half. Arsenal’s next match is away against Aston Villa on August 24.
