Veres’ coach shared his opinion on the reasons for the defeat from Kryvbas
Acting Head Coach Veresa Oleg Shandruk commented on the defeat from Krivbassa (0:2) in the third round Ukrainian Premier League.
“Every little thing, every episode – they affect the game. A quick goal and a direct expulsion – they affect even more. But it’s only our fault. Both in the episode with the expulsion and during the missed goal – we did not play out the episodes. These were gross errors. It is necessary to watch the video to make a more correct analysis.”
“After the removal, we switched to 4-4-1. We asked Mykola Gaiduchik to play in Vladislav Sharai’s position, and he sat lower in place of the removed Maksym Smiyan. We decided not to make a substitution right away, so as not to miss the opportunity to influence the game more in the second half. The team coped. Kryvbas did not have any special moments even in the majority before the break. The plan was to be patient and switch to 4-3-2 after the break. And that’s what we did.”
“Our opponents also had one player sent off. But, unfortunately, even with equal numbers, we were not effective enough in the final third of the field. To come back, you need to create and score. And we played poorly in attack today. There was literally one moment, maybe two. Yes, the sending off also affected our physical condition. From the twenty-eighth to the fifty-second minute, we played with a man down. In the heat. We spent more strength and energy.”
“Starting tomorrow, we need to work even harder and get ready for the next game. Now we will play in three days on the fourth. But for us, every match is important. This is a normal schedule. So I don’t see a problem here. As for possible rotation, we will look at the functional state of each player. Of course, there will be changes. But how serious – the training process will determine.”
Let us recall that Veres suffered a home defeat from the bronze medalist in a scandalous match with two expulsions and a penalty. In the debut, the Rivne team conceded from Prince Ada, and already in the 28th minute they were left with ten men – Maksym Smiyan received the second yellow card.
At the start of the second half of the match, the teams were equalized – Alexander Romanchuk was sent off. But Veres was unable to take advantage of this factor, moreover, at the end of the match, he missed a second goal – it was scored from the penalty spot by Timur Stetskov.
Shandruk’s team will play their next match on Thursday, August 22, in the Ukrainian Cup. As part of the Third Preliminary Stage of the tournament, Veres will play Metalist 1925 in Kyiv. The match at the Levyi Bereg stadium starts at 17:00.
