Foden named PFA Premier League Player of the Year, Palmer named Young Player of the Year

Phil and Cole previously won similar accolades at the end of last season’s Premier League awards

Midfielder Manchester City Phil Foden named best player of the year in English Premier League according to version Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).

The 24-year-old beat out team-mates Erling Haaland and Rodri, as well as Martin Odegaard (Arsenal), Cole Palmer (Chelsea) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) in the vote.

For the second year in a row, a City representative has been named the best. In 2023, the award was given to Haaland, and the year before, the winner of the award was Mohamed Salah from Liverpool.

The aforementioned Palmer also did not go unnoticed. The 22-year-old Chelsea leader was recognized the best young player in the league according to PFA.

Phil and Cole have now won the award twice this year, having previously received the same recognition at the end of the 2023/24 season from the Premier League.

The PFA is the oldest football union in the world, with more than five thousand members.

The new season in the Premier League started last weekend. In the first round match, Palmer’s Chelsea lost to Foden’s Manchester City (0:2) at home. Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk did not appear on the field.
