Dynamo should not have lost the first match of the Champions League qualification in Salzburg. This is what Dynamo Kyiv head coach Alexander Shovkovsky thinks.
According to the specialist, his players had enough chances to score against the opponent, however, they did not take advantage of it. In addition, the “white-blue” coach was not satisfied with some of the referee’s decisions.
“In my opinion, the final result does not reflect the course of events in today’s match. We had good chances to score, and more than one goal. But, unfortunately, we did not succeed today.
There were moments, in particular, in the first half, even with the score 0:0, there were two pretty good chances to score. We also had chances in the second half. But again, an unfortunate mistake once a penalty was awarded against us. The foul on Yarmolenko was 100%, I don’t know where the referee was looking in that episode, and VAR couldn’t look at it because it wasn’t in the penalty area.
Of course I’m not happy with the game. Also, in some ways, I am not satisfied with the actions of the referee, because there was a 100% foul on Yarmolenko. And if it’s not a penalty, then at least a very dangerous free kick.
As for the team’s performance, we created a lot of chances, but the game was made up of the goals scored, not the chances we created. We still have a return game, let’s prepare for it – this match is not over yet.
