The midfielder of the Kyiv club was pleased with the performance of his partners in the first match against the Austrians.

Dynamo struggled against Salzburg in the first match of the Champions League qualification, and there was no shame in the actions of the players on the field. Kyiv club midfielder Nikolai Shaparenko said this after the Champions League qualifying game.

According to the footballer, the “white-blues” should have scored at least one goal, because they created many opportunities to score.

“Based on a game like that, we deserved to score a goal at home I don’t know why we couldn’t – we just didn’t convert our chances, and the opponent converted theirs.

Very good defense by opposing players. We had some approaches to the goal, but the defenders fought well and blocked our attempts. We had several attacks, but they were unsuccessful. I repeat, we were not able to convert the chances we had. We will wait for the rematch and try to rehabilitate ourselves

The head coach pointed out our mistakes and you saw that after the break we played well. But there is an accident with punishment. This is football, things like this happen. Although we had chances to win, it all depends on us.

In my opinion, the team played well. The first half started well, we were able to score. The second half was also good. It was an interesting game, unfortunately we lost. I am happy for the team, for the players, that they came to the field not just to serve a number, but played for the Dynamo emblem and gave everything to get a decent result,” Dynamo’s website quoted Shaparenko as saying.

We remind you that Dynamo Kiev lost the first match of the qualification playoffs for the main round of the Champions League against the Austrian Salzburg.

The return match between Dynamo and Salzburg will take place on Tuesday, August 27, at 22:00 Kyiv time.
