The 19-year-old goalkeeper will join Chelsea in the summer of 2025
Chelsea announced the transfer of the goalkeeper Genka Mike Penders.
The Belgian has signed an eight-year contract with the Blues. He will play the current 2024/25 season for Genk on loan, and will join Chelsea in the summer of 2025.
According to media reports, the transfer fee for Mike Penders to Chelsea was 20 million euros.
Penders played two games for Genk’s first team last season and mainly plays for the club’s U-23 team.
Chelsea currently have five goalkeepers in their ranks – Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Filip Jorgensen, Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergstrom. Another goalkeeper, American Gabriel Slonina, joined Barnsley on loan in the summer, while Kepa Arrizabalaga (who is currently on contract at Chelsea) is close to joining Bournemouth on loan.
Chelsea thrashed Wolverhampton 6-2 away in their last Premier League match. On August 29, Enzo Maresca’s team will play a return match against Servette in the Conference League playoffs, and on September 1, they will host Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Chelsea have completed the signing of Mike Penders from KRC Genk, with the goalkeeper to officially join from next summer. ✍️🇧🇪
