The 30-year-old Dutch forward is currently a free agent
Rayo Vallecano interested in the transfer of the ex-forward Atletico Memphis Depay.
Rayo president Martis Presa is reported to want to time the move to coincide with the club’s 100th anniversary. Depay’s move is heavily dependent on Rayo Vallecano forward Raul de Tomas leaving.
Depay is currently a free agent – he left Atletico in the summer of 2024 when his contract expired. In total, the forward played 31 matches for the Matrasnikov in all tournaments last season, scoring 9 goals and 2 assists.
Memphis’ career also included appearances for PSV, Manchester United, Lyon and Barcelona. As part of the Netherlands national team, Depay played 98 matches and scored 46 goals, taking part in two World Cups (2014 and 2022) and two European Championships (2020 and 2024).
Yesterday Rayo Vallecano announced the signing of Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez.
Rayo Vallecano have four points in their first two rounds of La Liga. The Bees will play their next match today, August 27, at home against Barcelona.
