The famous Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has decided to retire after leaving Juventus.
Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has announced that he has decided to end his professional playing career.
The 34-year-old player published a post on Instagram in which he summed up his life in football and announced his decision to hang up his gloves.
“In June 2006, I left Warsaw, my hometown, to join Arsenal with one dream – to play football for a lifetime. Little did I know that this would be the beginning of a lifelong journey. Little did I know that I will play for the biggest club in the world and I will represent my country in 84 matches. Little did I know that I would not only earn from the game, but the game would become my whole life.
Not only did I realize my dream, I went where my imagination wouldn’t even dare.
I played the game at the highest level with the best players in history without ever feeling inferior. Made lifelong friends, created unforgettable memories, and met people who had an incredible impact on my life. I owe everything I am and everything I have to the great game of football…
But I also gave the game everything I had. I dedicated 18 years of my life to the game, every day, without any delay. Now, while my body is ready for the challenges, my heart is not in the right place. I feel now is the time to give my full attention to my family. Therefore, I decided to leave professional football.
The end of the journey is a time to reflect and express gratitude. And here I have to thank many people, but I will try to do it personally to each of them. And to you, the fans, I have to say a special thank you for being with me on this journey. For support and criticism, for love and hate, for being the best and most romantic part of football. Without you, none of this would make sense! thank you!
Every story has an end, but in life, every ending is a new beginning. What this new path will bring me, only time will tell. And if the last 18 years have taught me anything, it’s that nothing is impossible, and believe me, I dream big!”
The last club in Szczesny’s career was Juventus. With the Turin club, the goalkeeper won Serie A and the Italian Cup three times, and also won the country’s Super Cup twice. In the summer, the goalkeeper’s contract with the “old lady” expired and she became a free agent.
With the Polish national team, Szczesny took part in four European Championships and played in two World Championships.
We remind you that Cristiano Ronaldo has previously said what he will do after his career.
