Spartak defender Mienti Abena said he always tries to choose number 14 in new teams.
“Spartacus” On August 16, he announced the transfer of 29-year-old Abena from Ferencvaros. The contract with the Surinamese is for two years. The defender chose the number 14, which was previously worn by former Spartak captain Georgy Dzhikia.
“I know that my number belonged to the legendary captain of Spartak. I always try to take it, my brother was born on that day. When I found out about the captain, I felt flattered and happy that it happened that way. I don’t feel any additional responsibility, he left his mark and I’m here to leave mine. That’s what we will do,” a correspondent reports, according to Abena’s words.
Abena has been playing for Ferencváros since January 2023. In total, he has made 39 appearances for the Hungarian club in all tournaments, scoring three goals and providing one assist. In 2021, he made his debut for the Suriname national team, where he scored one goal in 17 appearances.
