The Austrian club held on to the advantage they gained in the first game
Head coach Salzburg Pepijn Leinders commented on the outcome of the second match with Dynamo (1:1) in the playoffs of the Champions League qualification.
“It’s crazy what we’ve achieved in these four games. I told my team they have to earn their place in the Champions League.”
“You saw how strong Dynamo is. You saw it today. And they deserve to be a strong team.”
“For the first time, two Austrian teams are playing in the Champions League. We wanted that. Now we want to play against the best teams, because the better your opponents are, the more you learn.”
The first game ended with a 2:0 victory for Salzburg. The return match in Austria brought goals from Adam Dagim and Vladislav Vanat (1:1).
Based on the aggregate score of two matches (3:1), Salzburg made it to the group stage of the Champions League. Dynamo will have to play 8 matches in the main tournament of the Europa League.
