Valeria Filatov, a board member, former coach and president of Lokomotiv, said he dreams of having 11 students of the club in the first team.
On Monday, Lokomotiv celebrated the services of former coach and club president Valery Filatov with the unveiling of a personalized star on the Walk of Fame in the presence of several hundred red-green supporters.
“I dream that 11 of our students will be in the starting lineup,” the correspondent reports, citing Filatov’s words.
Filatov was part of the Lokomotiv coaching staff in 1989–90, and in 1991 he replaced Yuri Semin as the team’s head coach. From 1992 to 2006, Filatov was president of the Moscow club, and then joined the Lokomotiv board of directors.
Under Filatov as president, Lokomotiv became the Russian champion twice, won the National Cup four times and the Super Cup twice. The team also reached the semi-finals of the Cup Winners’ Cup twice.
