Nigerian forward moves closer to Turkey move
Attack Napoli Victor Osimhen agreed to move to Galatasaray on loan until the end of the 2024/25 season.
At the same time, he wants to include a clause in the loan agreement about its possible termination in January 2025 in case Osimhen has options to continue his career in top clubs.
The Nigerian also insists that his release clause at Napoli be reduced to 75 million euros, instead of the current 130 million.
It was previously reported that Galatasaray were close to a final agreement with Napoli on Osimhen’s loan, but were awaiting the final decision from the forward himself.
Let us recall that Napoli excluded Osimhen from the squad for the season, and the team’s head coach Antonio Conte stated that “those who left the project will remain outside the project.”
At the same time, the Nigerian will no longer be able to move to a top championship – the summer transfer window in Italy, Spain, England, Germany and France is officially closed. Chelsea were keen on Osimhen, but the clubs failed to reach an agreement. However, this did not stop the Partenopei from acquiring Romelu Lukaku from the London club.
Napoli had a preliminary agreement to transfer Osimhen to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli for a total of 75-80 million euros, but the deal fell through after the Neapolitans raised their price for the Nigerian.
Osimhen scored 17 goals and made four assists in 32 games for the Napoli team in the 2023/24 season.
Galatasaray failed to reach the Champions League group stage, losing to Young Boys in the qualifying playoffs. Okan Buruk’s team started the Turkish championship with three wins in three matches.
