Didier Deschamps forced to make two changes to squad
Two Madrid players Real – defender Ferland Mendy and midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni won’t be able to help the team France in the upcoming matches League of Nations against Italy And Belgium.
Mendy and Tchouameni started for Real Madrid yesterday in the La Liga match against Betis (2-0). Ferland left the field in the 65th minute, while Aurelien played the whole match until the final whistle.
Ferland Mendy is reported to be suffering from a sore right calf while Aurelien Tchouameni has picked up an injury to his left leg. The severity of the injuries and recovery time are not yet known.
Instead, France head coach Didier Deschamps called up Aston Villa defender Luca Dinya and Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi. Digne played his last match for the national team in June 2022 in the Nations League against Croatia, and Guendouzi played in a friendly match against Chile in March 2024, but was not included in the squad for Euro 2024.
France will play Italy on September 6 in Paris, while Didier Deschamps’ team will play Belgium in Lyon on September 9.
