The Spaniard, vice-champion of Tokyo 2020, came to the Levantine club to replace Yaremchuk
Attack Valencia Rafael Mir Vicente, better known as Rafa Mirwas arrested for an alleged crime involving sexual assault.
The 27-year-old footballer was arrested on Monday, September 2. He is believed to be involved in a sexual assault on two women, aged 21 and 25, that took place at a private party in his home in a town in the province of Valencia.
The attack was apparently carried out in company with another unnamed man, who was also arrested.
The older of the girls contacted the police, her younger friend acted as a witness. Both victims required medical assistance. The police went to the scene of the incident, questioned those present. After that, Rafa Mir was arrested and placed in the casemate of the Civil Guard of Valencia.
Valencia Football Club was quick to issue an official statement on the matter:
“In connection with the press reports regarding the arrest of Valencia player Rafa Mir, the club is aware of this and, in the absence of further details about what happened, can at this time only state that it will cooperate in whatever justice may require.”
Rafa Mir has been a Sevilla player since 2021. He moved to Valencia this summer on a seasonal loan, just to replace Ukrainian Roman Yaremchuk. In the new season, the Spaniard managed to play four matches (three in the starting lineup) and scored one assist.
Rafa, as part of the Spanish Olympic team, became vice-champion of Tokyo 2020 (six matches, three goals).
Valencia have had a disastrous start to the 2024/25 season, with one point in four rounds and last place in the La Liga standings.
