Founder of Kostroma “Spartak” Dmitry Khotimsky, in MATCH PREMIER, spoke about the concept of the club’s development, which is based on the development of the physical level of players to the level of football players of the USSR national team of the 80s.
On Tuesday, Spartak Kostroma beat Ivanovo Tekstilshchik (1:1 in regular time, 4:3 on penalties) in the third round of the FONBET regional track of the Russian Football Cup.
— Our philosophy is to build a club that, in terms of physical conditions, will correspond to the USSR national team of the 80s, when we dominated even at the world championships. In Russia, the norm is that people train for an hour and a half a day, that is, 500 hours a year. We want to reach the world standard of 1,200 hours of training per day, but it is impossible to play football all the time. We do different loads: gym, MMA, running, cycling, among others.
“We have a long-term philosophy to test the idea that physical and athletic football will help our club, and perhaps our national team, reach the level where the national team was 40 years ago. We are making local improvements and gradually adding skills and physicality. We hope that in a few years we will reach the Premier League, in three years or later in the RPL. We are moving gradually,” Khotimsky told MATCH PRIME.
