Poltava women will play matches for the right to play in the Champions League group stage in the second half of September
Vorskla made it to the second stage of qualification Women’s Champions League 2024/25 thanks to the victory over Ferencvaros in a difficult away match – 2:0.
The match took place in Budapest. It was the final of the first round of the selection, where the Poltava team got through after a crushing victory over SFK Riga (5:0), and their Hungarian opponents got the better of Estonian Flora.
The Ukrainian team managed to open the scoring at the end of the half hour – Kateryna Korsun scored a goal (this is already her third goal in two matches of the European season) from a pass by Roksolana Kravchuk.
After the break, the hosts stepped up their game, but their attacking ardor was tempered by the removal of Estonian Vlada Kubasova in the 67th minute. At the very end of the fierce duel (10 yellow cards, two of which turned into red cards), Vorskla doubled the score – this time by Kravchuk herself, with an assist from Victoria Radionova.
As a result, having won two dry victories, the Poltava team made it to the second round of the selection (matches of this stage will be held on September 18-19 and 25-26), which will determine all participants of the group stage of the 2024/25 Women’s Champions League.
Let us recall that the current Women’s Champions League has already seen the exit of WFC Kolos. The Ukrainians first lost to Ajax in overtime (1:4), and then dramatically lost to Brondby (1:2).
