Albanian coach considers match against blue-yellows as key in Nations League group
Head coach Albania national team Sylvinho commented on his team’s victory over Ukraine (2:1) in the first round League of Nations.
“A very important victory, which was hard to work for. To be able to turn the match around – there was little hope for that, especially at this level. Ukraine is a strong opponent with technical players. However, we played a good match, perhaps only failing at the beginning of the second half.”
“As for future performances in this Nations League, I think this victory was key, although Georgia and the Czech Republic are also strong teams,” said the Albanian coach.
Ukraine managed to open the scoring after the break, with Yefim Konoplya scoring. However, the Albanians quickly equalized and then scored a second goal after a counterattack.
With three points, Albania leads Group B1 with Georgia, while the Ukrainian team is third thanks to a better goal difference than the Czech Republic.
In the next round, Rebrov’s team will play the Czech Republic on September 10. Albania will host Georgia on the same day.
