Particular attention should be paid to defensive play.
Famous Ukrainian coach Myron Markevich commented on the unsuccessful start of the Ukrainian national team in the League of Nations. At the same time, Markevich called on the current coach of the national team, Serhiy Rebrov, to remain in his position.
«[С Чехией] “We played better than against Albania – that’s for sure. There were some serious mistakes in defense, but the team looked better.”
“Rebrov’s resignation… “Who is to blame?” The coach. The team wins – the coach loses. Yes, there is and will be. My opinion is that he should probably continue working, but look at who works with him – a lot of, let’s say, garbage.”
“The main problem of the national team is defense, because it’s so easy to let goals be scored… This applies to everyone, not just defenders. Team play. Defense is one of the most important things. If a team likes to play only with the ball, nothing good will happen.”
“An example is Spain. Yes, they control a lot, but as soon as they lose the ball, they immediately return it. Unfortunately, we don’t have that.”
