Plant’s first win since October 2022, when he knocked out Anthony Dirrell
Caleb Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) won by technical knockout Trevor McCumbee (28-1, 21 KO) and became interim WBA champion in second middleweight.
The fight was stopped by the referee in the 9th round – McCumby stopped responding to Plant’s punches, after which his victory was recorded.
However, Caleb was not able to avoid difficulties at all – in the 2nd round, after several left hooks from McCumby, he found himself on the canvas, but the referee did not count the knockdown, considering that Plant had slipped. In the 4th round, Plant found himself on the canvas again – this time the referee began to count the knockdown, but Caleb was able to continue the fight.
As a result, Plant earned his first victory since October 2022, when he knocked out Anthony Dirrell.
