Terlyuga: Many coaches and functionaries from the Karate Federation are fighting for Ukraine. We have lost many talented coaches

The titled karateka believes in the victory and strength of spirit of the Ukrainian people

Ukrainian karateka Angelica Terlyuga She spoke about how the war affects her life, and also expressed gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine and faith in our victory.

“I have lived in Odessa all my life, including the period when the full-scale attack by Russia began, and I have never moved to another place for a long period of time. All my trips were only competitions, training camps, seminars – everything related to sports. Afterwards, I always return home and spend most of the year in Odessa. How does this affect my life? There is little positive, there is a state of anxiety, especially this happened right away, when there were the first explosions and hits on residential buildings. Unfortunately, this happens often here in Odessa. When I hear an air raid alarm, my heart starts beating faster, I panic, we always go down to the parking lot. Of course, when this happens, you feel morally broken. No one gets enough sleep at night. I am glad that we are alive and well. On such days, we are not in the best moral condition.”

“In general, I really want the war to end as soon as possible. I am the kind of person who thinks positively and believes in the best. We are strong, we are incredible! I know that we can build a successful state! We have a lot of talented people who want the best for Ukraine.”

“When I win a competition, I send a certain part to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Many coaches and functionaries from the Karate Federation directly participate in the fights. We have lost many talented coaches. Unfortunately, such is the reality…”

“What words of support would I say to our defenders? First of all, it is great respect and gratitude! I will never be able to forget in my mind what they have done, are doing and will do for us. For me, these people will always remain heroes! I understand that thanks to the strength of spirit of the Ukrainian people, our defenders and all the people who support them, we are at the point where we are now and we still are – an independent state. Our enemy is many times larger in size, but the strength of our character and spirit, thanks to our defenders, turned out to be stronger. We will always help them, believe in the best! Believe in our victory!”

Terlyuga is an Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, a silver medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games, and a multiple European champion in karate in individual and team events. Anzhelika could rightfully claim a medal at the Paris Olympics, but karate was excluded from the 2024 Olympic Games program in 2021.

At the end of August, the girl announced that she was expecting a child from her husband, karate trainer Vladimir Zaretsky.

In the early morning hours of February 24, 2022, Russia launched a missile attack and aerial bombardment on most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia is now in its 936th day.
