Former Knicks center gets chance to secure spot on Celtics roster
Champion NBA Boston Celtics signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Ukrainian center by Dmitry Skapintsev.
The Exhibit 10 agreement is for one year, includes a minimum salary and may include bonuses up to $75,000.
The 26-year-old Ukrainian signed a two-way contract with the New York Knicks last December. Last season, Dmitry only played twice in the NBA – he played a little more than two minutes in two games, without being particularly productive.
Skapintsev actively participated in the NBA Summer League matches this offseason, and in one of them, against Detroit, he even recorded a double-double (17 points + 10 rebounds).
Last season, Boston won the long-awaited championship – the Celtics’ first triumph since 2008. In the final series, Boston defeated Dallas in five games (4:1).
Svyatoslav Mykhailiuk played for the Celtics last season and became the second Ukrainian in history to win the NBA championship title.
Mykhailiuk left the team at the end of the season and signed a long-term contract with the Utah Jazz in August. However, Boston will not be left without the Ukrainian in its roster.
The 2024/25 NBA regular season will begin on October 22 and end on April 13, 2025. The play-in tournament will be held from April 15 to 18. The playoffs will begin on April 19. The first game of the finals will be held on June 5.
