Anderlecht announce parting ways with head coach Riemer

The reason for the Dane’s dismissal was a three-match streak without a win

Anderlecht officially ended cooperation with the head coach by Brian Rimer.

The club thanked the 45-year-old Dane for his work over the past year and nine months, but assessed the team’s results as “insufficient”. David Hubert, who previously worked in the Anderlecht youth structure, has been appointed as interim manager.

Riemer took over the Brussels club in December 2022. His work at Anderlecht was his first independent coaching experience at the senior level. Previously, Brian worked for many years in the Copenhagen structure (including on the coaching staff of Ståle Solbakken), and from 2018 to 2022 he was assistant to his compatriot Thomas Frank at Brentford.

Anderlecht have had a fairly successful start to the current season, having collected 10 points in the first four rounds of the Jupiler League. At the same time, Riemer’s team advanced to the group stage of the Europa League, having beaten Dinamo Minsk twice. But then came a slump – three consecutive league matches without a win, including a fresh defeat to Genk at home (0:2).

The purple and whites are fourth in the Jupiler League with 12 points after seven rounds. In the first round of the Europa League, Anderlecht will host Ferencvaros on September 25.
