The blue-yellows will take part in an international tournament in Spain
Head coach Ukraine U-16 national team (football players born no later than 2009) Yuri Moroz spoke about the upcoming training camp in Spain, where the blue and yellow will take part in an international tournament.
“Naturally, the first task of the coaching staff is to get to know the guys better. The scouting department abroad, and we here in Ukraine, were very thorough in searching for candidates. But, unfortunately, not everyone was able to come today, because these are not UEFA dates, and some clubs did not release the players. Therefore, there is an opportunity to see other guys in action who can prove themselves from the best side.”
“As for the upcoming tournament, the English have been its organizers for several years now. And this time, the Ukrainian team was invited to the competition thanks to the President of the UAF Andriy Shevchenko, for which we thank him very much. There is an opportunity not only to gather, but also to play with such strong teams as England, France and Israel.”
The Ukrainian U-16 team will begin a training camp in Murcia, Spain, on September 23. From September 26 to 30, the young Ukrainians will play three matches — against their peers from England, France, and Israel. The coaching staff has called up 22 players for the camp.
Let us recall that the previous term of the U-16 team (born in 2008 and above) under the leadership of Moroz suffered three defeats in the friendly tournament in Japan in the summer – from the hosts of the event (0:6), as well as peers from Senegal (0:1) and Venezuela (1:4). In October, this team will play in the first round of the Euro 2025 qualification (U-17).
