Vorskla women’s team managed to fly to Glasgow for the Champions League qualifying matches

The visa situation was successfully resolved, the football players flew out of Poland on the private jet of the club’s honorary president Zhevago

Visa problem for women’s team Vorsklawho for some time was unable to fly from Poland to Scotland for the match against Celtic in the second round Women’s Champions Leaguewas successfully resolved.

All the football players received British visas; the club was assisted in urgently resolving this issue by the Secretary General of the Ukrainian Football Association Igor Grishchenko. The team went to Glasgow on the private plane of the honorary president of Vorskla Kostiantyn Zhevago.

Recall that yesterday it was reported that the delegation of WFC Vorskla was “stuck” in Poland waiting for visa information to be updated and for the opportunity to make the planned flight to Glasgow. In the worst case scenario, the team risked not making it to the first match against Celtic, scheduled for Sunday, September 22.

Earlier, the draw determined Celtic as Vorskla’s opponents in the second round of the 2024/25 Champions League qualification. According to the agreement between the clubs, both matches should be played in Scotland, specifically in the city of Airdrie (19 km from Glasgow), at the Albert Bartlett Stadium. The dates are September 22 and 26, and the first match will be considered nominally home for the Poltava team.

At the previous stage of the selection, Vorskla managed to get two “dry” victories – over SFK Riga (5:0) and Ferencvaros (2:0). At the same time, WFC Kolos has already been eliminated from the current draw of the women’s Champions League.

The 12 winners of the second stage (seven from the champions path, five from the league path) will advance to the group stage, where Bayern, Barcelona, Lyon and Chelsea have been given automatic places.

The draw for the group stage will take place on September 27, with the stage scheduled to run from October 8 to December 18. The playoffs will take place from March 18 to April 27. The Women’s Champions League final will be held at the Estadio José Alvalade in Lisbon in May 2025.
