Kyiv goalkeeper Vyacheslav Surkis received a fine of 5 thousand hryvnia “for provocative actions that led to the outbreak of unrest”
Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Ukrainian Football Associationhaving reviewed materials on possible violations during and after the scandalous match Ukrainian Youth Championship between teams U-19 Miner And Dynamo dated May 10, 2024, issued a number of decisions.
Shakhtar, as the host, was fined 100 thousand hryvnia for failure to comply with the requirements of Additional security measures for organizing and holding football matches in Ukraine under martial law and is also required to hold the next match without spectators.
The Donetsk club will also pay a total fine of 52,500 hryvnia for a number of violations: unauthorized entry of strangers into the playing area; offensive chants by fans, as well as their use of pyrotechnics.
In addition, individual representatives of Shakhtar suffered individual punishments. The head coach of the U-19 team, Oleksiy Belik, was suspended for three matches for aggressive behavior, and Donetsk team players Anton Demchenko and Arseniy-Tymofiy Trokhim were issued warnings for failure to comply with the requirements of the UAF Code of Ethics and Fair Play.
Dynamo representatives did not escape punishment either. Thus, goalkeeper of the youth team Vyacheslav Surkis and director of the club’s Youth Sports School Oleksandr Ishchenko were fined 5 thousand hryvnia each for provocative actions. Midfielder Nazar Ivaskiv was suspended for three matches for aggressive behavior, and deputy general director of the Kiev team Serhiy Mokhnik was issued a warning for failure to comply with the Code of Ethics and Fair Play.
In addition, both clubs received additional fines of 100 thousand hryvnia for “behavior that harms the reputation of football.”
Let us recall that the aforementioned scandalous match at the end of last season ended with a 2:1 victory for Dynamo U-19. After the final whistle of the match between the youth teams of Shakhtar and Dynamo, a conflict occurred between the coaching staffs of the two teams. According to Deputy General Director Dynamo Mokhnika, senior coach of the Miners Belik hit the head of the children’s and youth school of Dynamo, 70-year-old Ishchenko. The UAF Ethics and Fair Play Committee immediately began an investigation into the incidents.
That result ultimately decided the fate of the championship title. Dynamo became the winner of the 2023/24 Ukrainian Youth Championship, beating Shakhtar by two points in the final standings.
In the current U-19 championship, the Kyivans are leading with 19 points after seven rounds, one point ahead of the Miners. But the Shakhtar boys have a game in hand.
