Daniel Dubois successfully defends IBF heavyweight title
IBF Heavyweight Champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KO) commented on the victory over the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO).
“I was going to leave it all in the ring and win by any means necessary. I knew tonight was going to be my night. I want to thank my family for supporting me mentally and getting me through this.”
“There was a lot of criticism. A lot of people doubted me and said that I would get knocked out in this fight. I am happy because I was able to prove them wrong. This is just the beginning of my journey. I feel like a champion. I am going to keep this belt and keep moving forward.”
During the fight, Anthony Joshua was knocked down three times, and in the fifth round, Dubois knocked AJ out, inflicting his fourth defeat in the professional ring.
Recall that Dubois became a full-fledged IBF champion at the end of June after Oleksandr Usyk gave up his belt. Previously, the Briton held the interim title after defeating Filip Hrgovic at the beginning of the summer.
Among the guests of honor at the fight between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua were WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and former WBC champion Tyson Fury. The Ukrainian champion and the “Gypsy King” will have a rematch on December 21 in Saudi Arabia.
