Bruno Lage’s team climbed to third place in the Portuguese championship standings
In the final match of the 6th round Portuguese Championship Benfica won a crushing victory away from home Boavista (3:0).
The visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the match thanks to Vangelis Pavlidis, and doubled it in the 31st minute thanks to a precise strike by Orkun Kokcu. The final point in the match was put by substitute Artur Cabral shortly before the final whistle.
Benfica’s Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin was in the starting lineup and kept his third clean sheet out of six matches played in the Portuguese championship.
Thanks to these three points, Benfica moved up to 3rd place in the standings, while Boavista remains close to the relegation zone, occupying 15th place.
In the next round, Benfica will host Gil Vicente at home on September 28, and Boavista will face Santa Clara away on September 29.
