Images of the demolition of Shah Alam stadium in the Malaysian city of the same name have been posted on social media.
The sports facility was built in 1994 and its capacity exceeded 80,000 people. The stadium hosted national team matches and Malaysia Cup matches, and was also the home arena of local team Red Giants.
In 2020, the structure was declared unsafe. Demolition work began on July 1, 2024, and final dismantling is expected to be completed in 2025. They plan to build a new stadium on the site of the demolished facility.
