Popular French defender Raphael Varane is tired of the constant injuries that have plagued him recently.

Raphael Varane has ended his professional football career. The star defender, who previously played for Real Madrid and Manchester United, announced this on social media.

“They say all good things must come to an end.

In my career I have participated in many challenges, solved challenge after challenge, almost all of them should have been impossible. Incredible emotions, special moments and memories that will last a lifetime. Looking back on these moments, it is with great pride and pleasure that I announce my retirement from the game we love.

I hold myself to the highest standards, I want to come out strong and not just hold on to the game. It takes a large dose of courage to listen to your heart and your instincts. Wants and needs are two different things. I’ve fallen and got back up a thousand times and this time it’s time to stop and hang up my boots in my last game, winning a trophy at Wembley.

I love to fight for myself, my clubs, my country, my teammates and the fans of every team I’ve played for. From Lens to Real Madrid and Manchester United, playing for our national team. I defended every vestige with everything I had and I loved every minute of this journey.

Playing at the highest level is an exhilarating experience. It tests every level of your body and mind. The emotions we feel you cannot find anywhere else. As athletes, we are not satisfied, we do not accept victory. It is our nature and what makes us healthy.

I have no regrets, I wouldn’t change a thing. I won more than I dreamed of, but apart from awards and trophies, I am proud that, no matter what, I stick to my principles of sincerity, trying to leave everywhere better than I found it. I hope I made you all proud.

And now a new life begins in the field. I will live in Como. Without using my cleats and shins. Something I hope to share more about soon.

Now, to the fans of every club I’ve played for, my teammates, coaches and staff, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this journey more special than my wildest dreams could have been guess

Thank you football. With love, Rafa,” the 31-year-old footballer wrote on Instagram.

According to journalists, the reason for this decision is constant injury, because of which Rafael cannot fully train and play football at a high level.

Varane moved to Como as a free agent last summer. He managed to play only 1 match for the team in the Italian Cup against Sampdoria, where he suffered a knee injury. After this, Como did not include the defender from the squad for the Serie A season.

Last season, Varane played for Manchester United, where he scored 1 goal in 32 matches.

The footballer was also repeatedly called up to the French national team, where he won the World Cup in 2018.

We remind you that Malinovsky from the hospital commented on his terrible injury received in Serie A.
