The parties failed to reach an agreement within the stipulated time
IBF will hold a promotional auction on August 23 regarding the advertising rights for the fight of the Scot Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) and Argentine Jeremias Ponce (30-0, 20 KOs). Taylor must make a mandatory world title defense.
It is reported that the IBF sanctioned the fight on July 7 and gave the boxing teams 30 days to organize the fight. The parties failed to reach an agreement on time. As a result, the IBF puts the rights to the title fight to the general competition.
Taylor unified four junior welterweight belts last May by defeating Jose Ramirez via unanimous decision. In February, the Briton had his first fight as an absolute champion, defeating Jack Catterall by split decision.
In May, Taylor vacated the WBA championship belt and lost his status as the undisputed light welterweight champion of the world by refusing to defend the title in a fight with Dominican Alberto Puello. In July, Josh pulled out of a fight with WBC contender José Cepeda.
