The head coach of the Kyiv club believes that his players let their opponents down.
Dynamo lost to Lazio in the opening match of the main round of the Europa League because of mistakes in the middle of the defense. This is what the head coach of the Kyiv club, Alexander Shovkovsky, thinks.
According to the specialist, at a high level of competition in Europe such mistakes will not be punished.
“Of course, it is very disappointing to lose matches, especially at the beginning, and in general, at this level, the opponents did not forgive the mistakes, recorded in the central zone will look at these moments and study the it, but giving your opponent such a head is not acceptable.
We came to this game wanting to play football. It is possible to close and wait, but I want to give my players the opportunity to play football, create combinations, and finish them. We had chances, but we didn’t get them because of mistakes in the center of the defense. And it is difficult for me to add anything about it. Perhaps it is a testament to Lazio’s class that when opportunities like this arise, they take them.
But, again, I repeat that we made big mistakes, and these mistakes were in defensive actions. I won’t dwell on individual players, but, it seems to me, we have no right to allow the opponent to easily pass through the center of defense and give the opportunity to score goals,” Dynamo’s website quoted Shovkovsky as saying.
We remind you that Dynamo lost to Lazio 0:3 in a nominally home match in the Europa League. The Kiev team will play their next UPL game against another capital club on the Left Bank. The match is scheduled for Sunday, September 29.
