Courtois is out indefinitely. Lunin is ready to replace him in the match against Lille

There is a possibility that the Belgian will miss two matches

Belgian goalkeeper Real Madrid Thibaut Courtois still left for an indefinite period.

Coach Blancos Carlo Ancelotti after the match with Atlético (1:1) in the eighth round, Examples reported that Thibault was experiencing muscle problems. The player should undergo an MRI, but there is a possibility that Courtois will remain in the hospital until the end of the international break.

Thus, the Ukrainian goalkeeper must replace the Belgian Andrey Lunin. Ahead of Real are matches with Lille in the Champions League (October 2) and Villarreal in the Spanish Championship (October 5).

Thibault missed almost the entire 2023/24 season due to two serious knee injuries. The Belgian managed to recover by May, received credit from Ancelotti and did not let the team down – five clean sheets, including the Champions League final.

This season, Courtois is the undisputed “first” number of Real Madrid (even despite the ridiculous own goal in the game with Espanyol). Thibault played 10 matches in all tournaments, conceding seven goals. The keeper kept four meetings to zero.

As for Lunin, the Ukrainian has not yet entered the field this season. But last season, thanks to Courtois’s injury and the uncertain play of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Andrei was a player in the main squad: 31 matches in all tournaments, 32 goals conceded, 12 clean sheets. The Ukrainian was also nominated for the Best Goalkeeper of the Year award at the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
