Derevyanchenko: Usik is approaching the rematch as a favorite, the second fight with Fury will be even brighter

Sergei noted that the mood of the “Gypsy King” will influence the fight

Ukrainian super middleweight boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko considers the holder of WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC belts in the heavyweight division Alexandra Usika (22-0, 14 KOs) favorite in the fight with the former WBC world champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

“Remembering how the first fight between the boxers went, in my opinion, Usik is now approaching the rematch as a favorite. Knowing Alexander and his discipline from the time of the national team, there are few who can compare with him in terms of responsibility. I am sure that he will do his best to finish the fight with a confident victory this time too.”

“Although Alexander will have an advantage, a lot also depends on Fury’s mood, on the form in which he approaches this fight, how much he wants to take revenge. Their second meeting in the ring will clearly be no less bright than the first! In terms of intensity, it will definitely be better, I think.”

Let us remember that on the night of May 18-19, Usik inflicted the first defeat in his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight. Oleksandr Usyk will prepare for the rematch in a training camp in Valencia. Tyson Fury said he will begin training six to seven weeks before the fight.
