The 17-year-old player’s clause is €500 million
Barcelona announced a contract adjustment for the 17-year-old midfielder Mark Bernal.
The current agreement with the midfielder runs until 2026, when his status as a U-19 player expires. The club agreed to include an option in the contract extension until 2029. The clause in the contract is 500 million euros.
The Barcelona Academy graduate was promoted to the main team from the youth structure in July. Bernal appeared in the starting lineup of the Catalans in three starting matches in the current La Liga.
Let us remind you that Bernal was injured during stoppage time in the match with Rayo Vallecano (2:1). The midfielder was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee and a concomitant injury to the lateral meniscus. Bernal underwent a successful operation, and his recovery process will approximately take a year.
Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season in the Spanish Championship in a match with Osasuna (2:4). Hans-Dieter Flick’s team continues to lead La Liga with 21 points. The Blaugrana’s next match will take on Young Boys on October 1 in the Champions League.
