Former midfielder Barcelona And Spain national team player Andres Iniesta decided to end his playing career.

The 40-year-old midfielder will officially announce his decision at a press conference on October 8.

Iniesta played for Barcelona from 2003 to 2018, making a total of 674 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan club’s first team (57 goals, 136 assists). During this time, Andres won the Champions League four times, and another 9 times he won the championship title in Example.

From 2018 to 2023, Iniesta played for the Japanese Vissel Kobe, and since 2023 he has been defending the colors of the Emirates club from the UAE. In March 2024, Andres played the anniversary, 1000th match in his career.

Also, from 2006 to 2018, Andres Iniesta defended the colors of the Spanish national team, playing in 131 matches, recording 14 goals and 30 assists. The midfielder scored the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup final against the Netherlands (1:0), and thereby brought his country the only world champion title in history. Iniesta also won two European Championships with the national team – in 2008 and 2012.

Iniesta played his last match in his career on June 1 in the UAE championship against Al-Bataeh and since then has never been in the Emirates squad for matches.
