The 17-year-old forward’s goal helped the Pharmacists beat Milan
Bayer U-19 won a victory on his own field over his peers from Milan in the 2nd round UEFA Youth League 2024/25. Ukrainian striker of the German team Artem Stepanov played the entire match and in the 90th minute set the final score – 3:1.
There was another Ukrainian in the Pharmacists’ application – the same age as Stepanov, goalkeeper Alexander Petrenko.
17-year-old Stepanov scored for the first time at this level. Earlier, in the 1st round, he played 81 minutes away against Feyenoord U-19 (2:1), but was not effective.
Artem is a Shakhtar graduate who moved to the Leverkusen club in the summer of 2022. In January 2024, his contract was extended until the summer of 2027. Last season Artem played for Bayer U-17. Since this summer, the Ukrainian has already been tearing apart his division as part of the U-19 team – seven matches, seven goals, one assist.
At the end of August, Stepanov was included in the first team of Bayer for the first time – in a cup match against Carl Zeiss (1:0).
