Sudakov: Today is just a season – I’m almost unlucky

The leader of Shakhtar explained the lack of results from the Ukrainian champions at the beginning of the new season.

The miner keeps losing points in all the tournaments and does not show the desired level of play because he is unlucky. This rationale for the team’s performance was found by one of the leaders of the Pitmen, Georgy Sudakov.

In addition, the midfielder, before the Champions League match against Atalanta, noticed the specific playing style of the future opponent.

“We understand that Atalanta is a very strong opponent. The team won the Europa League and is now one of the strongest in Europe with a very specific style of play – playing all over the field one-on-one, which shows of aggression, strength and clear tactical organization However, we also understand, that for victory we have to show our best game. This applies to both tactical formation and physical preparation. Against such an opponent we have to give one hundred percent, both with the ball and with the ball and without it we can win the whole fight This is the basis of our game.

Bologna and Atalanta are quite similar. Perhaps, first of all, you need to develop your game and act more aggressively with the ball. We tried to play our own football against Bologna, some things worked, some things didn’t. This doesn’t mean it’s our best game. The expectations from us are, of course, higher, and we also expect more from ourselves. I hope that in the match against Atalanta we can prove ourselves and show our level.

Last year we played in Hamburg, there was an incredible atmosphere, and we understand that there are many Ukrainian immigrants and support in Germany. Of course, it is impossible to compare it with the games in the Donbass Arena, especially since I did not play there, and in general it is impossible to compare it with the atmosphere in Ukraine. However, from what we have at the moment, we have incredible conditions that can be provided, and I can only thank Schalke, the city and the stadium for the opportunity to play here.

In every theory and after the game, the most important authority for us is the coach and his staff, to whom we must listen. Of course, we understand that the fans expect the best results from us, but I can’t say that we didn’t play well. Now, perhaps, it’s just a season – a bit unlucky. However, we are working hard, and I believe that through hard work this success will come. I hope that in the near future we will be able to please our fans.

I watched the first half, and to be honest, I liked Bologna better. I would say they are pretty similar in terms of skill and level of play. Arguably, Atalanta prevailed in Bologna with its aggressiveness on the ball and speed, and besides, it is a popular opponent. However, everything depends only on us, how we prove ourselves in martial arts and tactics,” Sudakov said at the pre-match press conference.
