Atalanta has four points from its two opening Champions League matches
Head coach Atalanta Gian Piero Gasperini commented on the victory over Miner (3:0) in the second round Champions League.
“We played a good game from the very beginning. I was afraid of this match, but our approach to it was excellent, both tactically and technically. End The score of 2:0 in the first half helped us, but the team was always confident and controlled the ball well.”
“Did I think about how many points would be enough to qualify for the playoffs? After two games it is too early to make calculations. We have difficult matches ahead of us with Celtic, Stuttgart, Barcelona and Real Madrid. The point we won against Arsenal was very important. We’ll see later, but for now it was very important to win against Shakhtar. If we can achieve results in the games that are within our reach, we can qualify for the playoffs. The more we do, the better.”
Let us remind you that Atalanta started the Champions League with a home draw against Arsenal (0:0).
Gian Piero Gasperini’s team will play their next match in the Champions League on October 23 at home against Celtic. Before the international break for national team matches, Atalanta still has a Serie A home match against Genoa, which will take place on October 5.
