According to Karl Froch, Oleksandr Usik has a higher chance of winning a rematch
Former world super middleweight champion Carl Froch advised the ex-world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) will fight his next fight against the former WBC heavyweight belt holder Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), who, according to Froch, will lose in a rematch to the WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
“Joshua needs to take a break. He just got knocked out hard and got suspended for 28 days because the knockout was so bad. He needs to wait, take a break, relax and see what Tyson Fury does with Oleksandr Usyk.”
“I believe that in this fight the odds are in favor of Usyk. “I’m not taking anything away from Fury, but from what I think, have seen and know, Tyson is going to be in big trouble.”
“Let’s imagine that Fury loses to Usyk in a rematch. His fight with Joshua is a big fight that will always be relevant. He’ll probably pack Wembley. They both lost to Usyk, they’re both former heavyweight world champions who lost, but it’s a huge fight.”
Joshua lost to Dubois in a fight that took place in London on September 21. Daniel knocked down AJ three times and knocked out his opponent in the fifth round. Dubois defended the IBF title, which he received after Oleksandr Usyk abandoned it.
The Joshua-Dubois fight set a new record for the largest number of spectators in the 21st century for a boxing match. The boxing evening at Wembley Stadium in London was attended by 98,128 people.
Let us remember that on the night of May 18-19, Usik inflicted the first defeat in his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight. Oleksandr Usyk will prepare for the rematch in a training camp in Valencia. Tyson Fury said he will begin training six to seven weeks before the fight.
